Central’s Log Cabin Renovation – Day Two
Danny and new guy Louis got started early today. Maria, Will and I stopped by around 10:15 and found someone’s hard hat sticking out of a little square hole in the James Drive entryway roof! Bryon joined them later and they got the entire entryway roof off and most of the front logs pulled out. The guys told me at the end of the day that the logs were hard to pull out – lots of nails and big wooden pegs. I’ll take some close-up pics. Also they said the cement chinking didn’t come out easily because there’s almost a grid of nails so that the chinking had something to grab onto.
We discovered something interesting on the entryway front metal gutter pieces. It looks as if they were formed out of 1920’s metal print presses. Can’t really explain it, but we’ll take more pics and will definitely save them.
I think the front wall of the East dormer is built and will go up tomorrow. Then the roof framing for that new gabled dormer will be put up too.
Let’s see what Day Three brings!
